What is Navicare?

Whats is Navicare?

Isaac Navicare is a free service that helps connect people with mental health requirements with the support they need across the Isaac region. 

Navicare: 

  • is located within the Moranbah Youth & Community Centre; 

  • has a dedicated phone line for help-seekers; 

  • has a telehealth facility; 

  • provides a wide range of information on mental health and general well being; 

  • is staffed by a Mental Health Care Navigator.  

The role of the Care Navigator is to: 

link help-seekers with support they may need to improve their mental well-being; 

  • assist with referrals, making appointments with mental health care professionals; 

  • provide a private space in which to access online mental health support from our online psychology partners; 

  • link help-seekers with any other support services they require including housing, employment, disability support and relationship counselling; 

  • provide support outside of operating hours via the Navicare phone service, email or website. 

Kelly McGrath is the Care Navigator located at the Navicare hub in the Moranbah Youth & Community Centre. With an extensive health, medical, research and education background, she is passionate about improving mental health. She has both personal and professional experience in the unique challenges and needs facing those people who live and work in rural and remote communities. She will be located at the Navicare hub on Mondays and Tuesdays, and available for phone support and referrals on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday. 

The Navicare hub officially opened on Tuesday 9 November.
