Navicare is coming to Sarina!
As part of The Bridging Study, Queensland University of Technology have been busy conducting stakeholder interviews, a community consultation and an implementation workshop in Sarina. The stakeholder interviews and community consultation were to understand community mental health needs, and to discuss barriers, facilitators and potential locations for a Navicare hub. A second, smaller workshop was held with key stakeholders to discuss the steps required to implement Navicare outreach to Sarina, including possible hub locations.
After a thorough evaluation of the data from these meetings, we can confirm that Navicare will be providing a face-to-face outreach hub at the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre from mid-May.
Isaac Navicare and QUT Conducted two community consultations in Sarina, which determined that the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre would be the ideal location for the Navicare Hub. Pictured are Dr Eloise Hummell, Dr Bridget Abell and Associate Professor Zephanie Tyack from QUT.
Isaac Regional Council have generously donated the use of a room in the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre free of charge. Care Navigator Liana Irving will provide face-to-face care navigation at the Sarina hub one day per week, with an expected opening date of mid-May. The hub will also provide a Supported Telehealth facility, where Liana will assist individuals to connect with mental health clinicians via Telehealth. She will also provide phone care navigation services for Sarina locals Monday through Friday.
